Passion Pit
Passion Pit
The State Theatre is excited to announce a February 12 date with very special guests Matt & Kim.

Passion Pit returned to the stage in September with a co-headline performance at the fabled Hollywood Bowl, about which Variety Magazine raved, “Angelakos' voice is as divisive as it is stunning to behold -- a helium-soaked sonic weapon that is frequently pushed to the very apex of its register. On this evening, he was in top form, hitting notes with precision and infusing his melodies with a desperate emotional intensity.”

Four months after the bands #4 Billboard chart debut with Gossamer, Passion Pit is seeing their first top 10 Alternative chart hit with “Take A Walk” (which currently is sitting at # 5.) Additionally, Passion Pit made their first TV appearance in support of Gossamer performing “Take A Walk” and the infectious album cut “Carried Away” on Saturday Night Live. Both tracks, along with the album, saw a spike in sales after the bands energetic performance this past weekend showing that in conjunction with prominent features and collaborations over the months - including including a synch in Obama’s 100 Days Campaign, an original track on The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 soundtrack and inclusion in the Brooks Brothers 2012 Fall Catalog – Passion Pit are continuing to grow strong with Gossamer; a dichotomous masterwork bound by the precise vision of wunderkind Michael Angelakos
Matt & Kim
Matt & Kim
Brooklyn indie dance duo Matt and Kim release New Glow, the band’s latest full length on April 07th, 2015.

Matt and Kim, aka Matt Johnson (vocals/keyboards) and Kim Schifino (drums), get things rolling in their exuberant style with a performance lyric video for the song “Get It”: Three minutes and seven seconds of heaven for anyone who has, or hasn’t yet, seen Matt and Kim’s legendary live shows.

With New Glow, the duo who love hip-hop and pop have made an album of undeniably catchy beat-driven anthems with hooks that just don’t stop and just won’t leave your head. “The best era of music is right now and I believe we’re doing our best work yet.” says Matt.

“Anyone who has seen one of our shows knows we love any style of music you can have fun and get wild to. I’m not sure we were able to put that diversity on any of our albums the way we did on New Glow. While there are definitely songs that will feel familiar to people who know our stuff, there are also songs like “Get It” which have always been part of who we are but went unrecorded to this point. We helped edit a lyric video for “Get It”, using live footage from a handful of festivals and shows we played in the last couple years. Going through that footage really made it hard to believe how lucky we are to have the best f**king job in the world.”

The two met while attending Pratt Institute and quickly became known for their thunder-punching, melodic mix of indie and dance music. Right off, Spin said “there truly is no sound these two won’t use to support their almost religious commitment to spreading huge grins,” while Pitchfork described their quality as “melody so happily jerky and rhythms so dangerously spastic that you can practically hear paroxysmal crowds pogo-ing madly…Johnson sings, and thousands of other kids in his zip code (and others like it around the country) feel like he’s describing their Saturday nights.”

Previously, Matt and Kim’s video for “Lessons Learned,” in which they strip naked in Times Square on a very cold February day, won an MTV Music Award for “Breakthrough Video.” 2012’s Lightning (FADER) featured the Alternative radio hit “Let’s Go” and single “Daylight” was certified Gold.

All the while they toured the globe, becoming the go-to band for raw exuberance, bombastic beats, sing-along refrains and dance-ready anthems on larger and larger scales. They’ve performed at many, many major music festivals including Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Coachella, Firefly, Summerfest, Big Day Out, Fuji, V, Pukkelpop and Ultra.
Icona Pop
Icona Pop
Autumn of 2011, Icona Pop moved from Stockholm to London, and with an album ready to go the tunes are in no short supply. Icona Pop says: "We like galloping drums, and synthesisers, but we still like the classical pop melodies. And that's 'what we are'. We don't have to decide, because there's no decision to be made. We just have to do exactly what we want."

In the intervening years they've working with The Knocks (voted one of NME's hottest production outfits of the hour), Patrik Berger (Robyn), Elof Loelv (Niki & The Dove), Fredrik Berger (The Good Natured) and Style of Eye, as well as sessions with UK producers like Starsmith (Kylie, Ellie Goulding) and Burns. Their Neon Gold-released double a-side single 'Manners' / 'Top Rated' prompted journals like NME and The Guardian say things along the lines of "effortlessly cool" and "all the makings of a 24-carat pop hit", and the duo have perfected their live show, too – that first performance back in 2009 went rather well, all things considered, while their first London gig was impressive enough to bag them a management deal with Artist Company TEN, the team behind Niki & The Dove and Erik Hassle.
