Dr. Dog
Dr. Dog
Founded on a creative relationship whose roots stretch back to when McMicken and bassist Toby Leaman met in the 8th grade, Dr. Dog was years in the making. After long hours practicing in basements, performing in barns, and tweaking knobs on cassette four track machines, Dr. Dog was officially established in 1999 with the Psychedelic Swamp record. What followed was an intense period of stockpiling eight-track recordings, open-ended enrollment policies where Dr. Dog membership included a man who played a one-string guitar in a skintight skeleton costume and another who danced in the crowd while wearing a tuxedo. Despite their loyal hometown following, Dr. Dog could have very well remained a Philadelphia phenomenon had McMicken's then-girlfriend not slipped a copy of Toothbrush, a collection of home recordings, to Jim James of My Morning Jacket, who would take them on their first tour and prepare the way for the waves of positive press that would greet 2005's Easy Beat. By 2007, their next album We All Belong was earning the band opening slots for Wilco and the Raconteurs and they were turning up all over late night television. They upped the ante with their sonically ambitious Fate and started headlining their own tours.

Delta Spirit
These Californian indie soul rockers have more in common with the dirty haired, dirty fingernailed folk groups of the nascent years than they do any of their contemporaries.
Spencer
Spencer
Spencer (Albee for the uninitiated) has been an active part of Portland's thriving music scene since 1995. His work as a musician with Rustic Overtones, AS FAST AS, Spencer and The School Spirit Mafia, Space versus Speed, Rocktopus and The Popsicko has carried him numerous times around the country and Canada and has landed him recording and publishing contracts with Arista, Tommy Boy, Octone, Velour, EMI and Zomba. His production work has aided in the signing of some of Portland's finest acts including 6Gig, Jeremiah Freed and Pete Kilpatrick and has brought him to work along side of some of the industries most legendary engineers and producers such as Tony Visconti (Bowie, T. Rex), Matt Wallace (Faith No More, Maroon 5), David Leonard (Prince, Paul McCartney, Rush, Toto, Barenaked Ladies), Brian Malouf (Pearl Jam, Michael Jackson) as well as Bob Ludwig and Adam Ayan (Gateway Mastering).
This year will mark the release of Spencer's first proper solo record. The self titled album, due out June 25, has been recorded and produced by Spencer, the Grammy nominated Steve Drown and fellow League of Bandsmen founder Sean Morin. Following in the footsteps of the lead off single, last year's "California's Calling", the new record presents intricately crafted songs realized with drums, basses, Moogs, horns, voices, strings and guitars and features performances by a who's who of the Northeast's finest musicians. The Fogcutters, Chuck Gagne, Dan Capaldi, Ian Riley, Dark Hollow Bottling Company, Kenya Hall, Amanda Gervasi, Dominic Lavoie and Kyle Gervais are among the many who contributed their talents to this eclectic and refreshing album of new Spencer music.
